About the book This book presents principles of separation processes for undergraduate chemical engineering students. It emphasizes calculation methods, both graphical and numerical. The latter or so-called stage-to-stage calculation is not focused on in most textbooks; hence, students are not presented with the concept of using a computer for solving problems. All illustrated examples in the book are solved firstly by the graphical method that provides understanding to students. Then, the stage-to-stage calculation procedure is thoroughly described so that students can easily perform Excel spreadsheet calculations with a computer. With simple built-in functions provided in Excel such as “IF”, “TREND”, “Goal Seek” etc., students can create worksheets to calculate and solve problems concerning separation processes which are no longer difficult and instead become a worthwhile challenge. Chemical engineers and technologists will find that this book is useful for their work. |
