About the book STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF POLYMERS, based on a course of lectures given to undergraduate students mainly discusses the structure and properties of polymers and their relationship, opening out the inherent interrelationship and basic laws between them in order to provide theoretical base for synthesis, processing, testing, selecting and exploitation of polymer materials in three parts.
The first part involves the short-long-range and condensed state structure of polymer chains; the second part deals with the molecular motion in polymers; and the third part treats the various physical properties including mechanical, rheological, electrical, thermal, optical and magnetic and solution properties of polymers. Many methods characterizing the structure, measuring molecular motion, and determining different properties, molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of polymers etc. have been introduced at the same time.
Although the text is pitched at the undergraduate level it can also be used as a course book at the advanced year for the students of chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering, polymer technology, and composite materials. Care has been taken to ensure that other industrial scientists and technologists find it as a valuable book for gaining greater understanding of polymers. |
